href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/06\/bathroom-makeover-in-progress\/\">working on giving my son&#8217;s bathroom a complete makeover<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s my master to-do list for this room:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><strong>Paint walls light blue<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\"><strong>Add bright striped shower curtain and hand towels<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Paint cabinets white<\/span> (This was the task I was trying to complete in the last 2 weeks) <\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Add white beadboard to walls<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Add towel hooks<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Add decorative touches<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Replace large mirror with 2 smaller mirrors<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Replace light fixture<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Add window treatment to small window<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My main goal was to get the cabinets finished.\u00c2\u00a0 With a sick 2 year old, lots of rain preventing my spray painting outside, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/15\/the-ants-go-marching-two-by-two\/\">the great ant invasion of 2009<\/a>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">lots going on<\/span> <em>lots of procrastinating<\/em>, it was a small miracle that I even got the cabinets finished!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what the cabinets looked like before.\u00c2\u00a0 This photo is actually from another bathroom in our house, but these are basically the same cabinets.\u00c2\u00a0 (Don&#8217;t worry, this bathroom will be getting a makeover too!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" with the way they turned out!\u00c2\u00a0 The white is a thousand times better than the medium oak stain they were previously.\u00c2\u00a0 As I mentioned in my last post, I spray painted the cabinets, using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.remodelingguy.net\/2009\/04\/painting-your-cabinets-part-2-plan-b\/\">Remodeling Guy&#8217;s suggestions<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Here is the paint I used:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-800\" title=\"Bathroom Spray Paint\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Bathroom-Spray-Paint.jpg\" alt=\"Bathroom Spray Paint\" width=\"557\" height=\"835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Bathroom-Spray-Paint.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/10\/Bathroom-Spray-Paint-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was very pleased with the ease and quickness of painting the doors.\u00c2\u00a0 Painting the cabinet frame was a huge pain, and based on that step alone, I would recommend that if you are interested in going the spray painting route to avoid the appearance of brush strokes, that you spray the doors and use traditional roller or brush methods for the frame.\u00c2\u00a0 As for the durability of the spray paint on the cabinets&#8230;.I&#8217;ve already touched up one cabinet that chipped when I banged it on installation.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure how durable this will be.\u00c2\u00a0 I used primer spray, but I did not sand.\u00c2\u00a0 Maybe that was a mistake?\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m not expecting lifetime durability by any means, but I&#8217;m pleased with it for now.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m so happy with the way this bathroom is coming along, and I&#8217;m really looking forward to adding the beadboard next!\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll definitely be sharing updates here as things progress, so stay
