{"id":7105,"date":"2011-12-02T19:20:46","date_gmt":"2011-12-03T01:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=7105"},"modified":"2011-12-04T13:55:18","modified_gmt":"2011-12-04T19:55:18","slug":"gingerbread-playdough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/02\/gingerbread-playdough\/","title":{"rendered":"Gingerbread Playdough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our Playdough of the Month for December is Gingerbread Playdough. \u00c2\u00a0The Littlest Apple was super excited to play with this. \u00c2\u00a0I love that he actually enjoys playing with playdough now (though I still don&#8217;t enjoy the mess he makes with it.). \u00c2\u00a0This recipe is a little different from the one I normally use, and it has lots of spices thrown in for that festive, holiday scent. \u00c2\u00a0The spices alone give it a light brown color, but we added brown <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Wilton-Set-8-Icing-Colors\/dp\/B0000CFMU7\/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1322874501&amp;sr=8-4\">Wilton Icing Color<\/a> to make ours a little darker. \u00c2\u00a0Add a rolling pin, some Christmas cookie cutters and your little one will have hours of fun with this!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7111\" title=\"Gingerbread Playdough 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-1.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-1-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Gingerbread Playdough<\/h4>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 1\/2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup salt (use table salt, not kosher salt)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon allspice<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon nutmeg<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon ginger<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon cinnamon<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon ground cloves<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 tablespoon cream of tartar<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n<li>1 cup water<\/li>\n<li>brown food coloring (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Combine all dry ingredients in a pot. \u00c2\u00a0Add water, oil and food coloring (if using) and stir continuously over low heat until mixture takes on a dough-like consistency. \u00c2\u00a0Dough should pull away from the bottom and sides and form a ball, and it shouldn&#8217;t be sticky any more. \u00c2\u00a0Remove from pot and let cool for just a minute. \u00c2\u00a0Then knead until dough is smooth.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7112\" title=\"Gingerbread Playdough 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-2.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-7113\" title=\"Gingerbread Playdough 3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-3.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/Gingerbread-Playdough-3-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sharing this post with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notimeforflashcards.com\/2011\/12\/link-learn-27.html\">Link &amp;
