{"id":6545,"date":"2011-07-26T14:50:57","date_gmt":"2011-07-26T20:50:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=6545"},"modified":"2011-07-26T14:50:57","modified_gmt":"2011-07-26T20:50:57","slug":"ice-cream-play-dough","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/07\/26\/ice-cream-play-dough\/","title":{"rendered":"Ice Cream Play Dough"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Littlest Apple used to not have any interest in playing with playdough.\u00c2\u00a0 He would shred it into a million tiny pieces, but that was about it.\u00c2\u00a0 As a result, I stopped making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/02\/kool-aid-playdough-for-mardi-gras\/\">themed playdough<\/a> for a few months.\u00c2\u00a0 But now, as he nears his 4th birthday, he&#8217;s enjoying playdough a bit more, playing with it a little longer, and using his imagination as he plays.\u00c2\u00a0 For the last month, he&#8217;s been playing with this ice cream playdough I made.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s just one batch of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/02\/kool-aid-playdough-for-mardi-gras\/\">homemade playdough<\/a>, divided in three parts and colored green, orange, and brown for chocolate mint ice cream, orange sherbert, and chocolate ice cream.\u00c2\u00a0 I could have easily added scents to these flavors as well, but I didn&#8217;t this time.<\/p>\n<p>I include a bowl of real sprinkles for The Littlest Apple to play with and sprinkle on his ice cream creations.\u00c2\u00a0 This is by far his favorite part!\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s been great about not eating the sprinkles, and he&#8217;s been instructed to only use the sprinkles over a tray (they still wind up everywhere, of course!).\u00c2\u00a0 After each use, many of the sprinkles get mashed in to the playdough, so we now have sprinkled ice cream play dough! (My apologies for not having better photos&#8230;The Littlest Apple does NOT like having his picture taken right now, but still, these photos could have been better.)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Ice-Cream-Playdough.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6546\" types of ice cream cups at a dollar store a few years ago, when I made the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/10\/sensory-bin-extravaganza\/\">ice cream sensory bin<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Now I&#8217;m using these ice cream cups to teach The Littlest Apple about small, medium and large.<\/p>\n<p>We play ice cream shop, and The Littlest Apple is the ice cream man.\u00c2\u00a0 I order a medium chocolate with sprinkles, or a large with orange sherbet AND mint AND sprinkles, and The Littlest Apple creates my order.\u00c2\u00a0 He&#8217;s had such fun with this, and now I use play dough to keep him occupied at the kitchen counter next to me while I do the dishes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/Ice-Cream-Playdough-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6553\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/10\/sensory-bin-extravaganza\/\">ice cream sensory bin<\/a> would go well with this play dough, The Littlest Apple&#8217;s been busy with a
