{"id":6178,"date":"2011-04-11T20:23:37","date_gmt":"2011-04-12T02:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=6178"},"modified":"2011-04-11T20:23:37","modified_gmt":"2011-04-12T02:23:37","slug":"banana-waffles-with-coconut-syrup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/11\/banana-waffles-with-coconut-syrup\/","title":{"rendered":"Banana Waffles with Coconut Syrup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The newest waffle flavor for this week is&#8230;.banana!\u00c2\u00a0 These waffles remind me of the banana pancakes I had a few year ago in Kauai, served with coconut syrup and macadamia nuts.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;ll be going back to Kauai soon, and I can&#8217;t WAIT!!\u00c2\u00a0 (Just had to rub that in.\u00c2\u00a0 We NEVER take vacations&#8230;.)<\/p>\n<p>In a perfect world, I would have used macadamia nuts too, but all I had were pecans.\u00c2\u00a0 These smelled absolutely amazing while they were cooking, but I was the only one who actually liked them.\u00c2\u00a0 Who doesn&#8217;t like banana waffles and coconut syrup?!\u00c2\u00a0 My two Picky Apples, that&#8217;s who.\u00c2\u00a0 Admittedly, they were a little floppy (somewhat remedied by toasting in the toaster), and I will definitely cut back on the banana next time.\u00c2\u00a0 But don&#8217;t let that stop you from trying these.\u00c2\u00a0 Great flavors in both the waffles and the syrup!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Banana-Waffles.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6183\" title=\"Banana Waffles\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Banana-Waffles.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Banana-Waffles.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Banana-Waffles-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Banana Waffles<\/h4>\n<p>from <a href=\"http:\/\/allrecipes.com\/Recipe\/Banana-Pancakes-I\/Detail.aspx\">Allrecipes<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li> 1 cup all-purpose flour<\/li>\n<li> 1 tablespoon white sugar<\/li>\n<li> 2 teaspoons baking powder<\/li>\n<li> 1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 teaspoon cinnamon<\/li>\n<li> 1 egg, beaten<\/li>\n<li> 1 cup milk<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla<\/li>\n<li> 2 tablespoons vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li> 2 ripe bananas, mashed<\/li>\n<li>nuts, shredded coconut, and sliced bananas for topping (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Combine flour, white sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt.  In a separate bowl, mix together egg, milk, vanilla, vegetable oil and bananas.\u00c2\u00a0 Stir flour mixture into banana mixture; batter will be slightly lumpy.\u00c2\u00a0 Preheat waffle iron.\u00c2\u00a0 Pour or scoop the batter onto the waffle iron, using  approximately 1\/3 cup for each waffle.
