{"id":6131,"date":"2011-04-07T13:10:09","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T19:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=6131"},"modified":"2011-04-07T13:10:09","modified_gmt":"2011-04-07T19:10:09","slug":"clean-in-2011-have-you-seen-your-kitchen-cabinets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/04\/07\/clean-in-2011-have-you-seen-your-kitchen-cabinets\/","title":{"rendered":"CLEAN in 2011: Have You SEEN Your Kitchen Cabinets?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve taken a look at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Cleaning-Calendar-April.doc\">April&#8217;s Cleaning Calendar<\/a> (available in the right sidebar), then you know that this week I&#8217;m doing some deep cleaning in the kitchen, working on some areas that are often neglected.\u00c2\u00a0 Yesterday, I wiped down my kitchen cabinets.<\/p>\n<p>I spend tons of time in the kitchen, but I just wasn&#8217;t seeing just how dirty they were!\u00c2\u00a0 Yes, I saw them, but I wasn&#8217;t really SEEING them.\u00c2\u00a0 I see the fingerprints on the fridge, the clutter on the counters, and the crumbs on the stovetop, but the cabinets?\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t usually give them a second thought.\u00c2\u00a0 As result, they rarely get wiped down.<\/p>\n<p>So as a result, I&#8217;ve been walking around my kitchen, blind to the fact that my beautiful cabinets really look like this:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6132\" title=\"Kitchen Cabinets 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-1.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-1-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>See all those spots and drips and dust?\u00c2\u00a0 Yikes!<\/p>\n<p>I was more than a little leery about cleaning my cabinets this week.\u00c2\u00a0 The last time I wiped them down (and I&#8217;m going to plea the 5th on when exactly that occurred!), I used some disposable wood cleaner cloths that left them looking very streaky (and The Picky Apple was NOT happy about it!).\u00c2\u00a0 As a result, I had to go back and wipe them down again to get rid of the streaks.<\/p>\n<p>So I went in to this round of cabinet cleaning with a bit of trepidation.\u00c2\u00a0 I decided to give one my new favorite products a try, <a href=\"http:\/\/donahuewellness.myshaklee.com\/us\/en\/products.php?sku=00015\">Shaklee&#8217;s Basic H2 Organic Super Cleaning Concentrate<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 This is such a versatile, cost effective product, and maybe I&#8217;ll talk about it in more detail sometime soon.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m not receiving any kind of kickbacks for saying that, I just really love the stuff.\u00c2\u00a0 (Though if you sell Shaklee and are interested in sponsoring The Picky Apple, let me know!!)\u00c2\u00a0 If you remember, I used Basic H2 for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/02\/26\/clean-in-2011-how-to-clean-your-bathroom-in-11-minutes\/\">cleaning my bathroom mirrors<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 For cleaning my kitchen cabinets, I used the All Purpose Solution, which is just 1\/4 tsp H2 mixed with 16 oz. water.<\/p>\n<p>It took me about 30-45 minutes to thoroughly wipe down my cabinets (23 in all) and drawer fronts and really get all of those yucky spots off.\u00c2\u00a0 I have no idea what it all was.\u00c2\u00a0 Milk explosion?\u00c2\u00a0 Blender explosion?\u00c2\u00a0 Grease from cooking?\u00c2\u00a0 Spills from baking?\u00c2\u00a0 Probably a little bit of everything.<\/p>\n<p>But the H2 did the trick, and left my cabinets looking clean without any streaks:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6133\" title=\"Kitchen Cabinets 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-2.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Kitchen-Cabinets-2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So much better, don&#8217;t you think?<\/p>\n<p>Now on to my refrigerator coils, another neglected task&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>How often do you wipe down your kitchen cabinets?\u00c2\u00a0 Have you really taken a close look at them lately?
