{"id":5832,"date":"2011-03-09T13:28:36","date_gmt":"2011-03-09T19:28:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=5832"},"modified":"2011-03-09T13:32:58","modified_gmt":"2011-03-09T19:32:58","slug":"clean-in-2011-a-steam-mop-discussion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2011\/03\/09\/clean-in-2011-a-steam-mop-discussion\/","title":{"rendered":"CLEAN in 2011: A Steam Mop Discussion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As I was writing a post on the products I use for cleaning, it occurred to me that I don&#8217;t really care for my steam mop and that I need to get a new one.\u00c2\u00a0 Needless to say, I put that post on hold until I get this straightened out.<\/p>\n<p>Do you use a steam mop?<\/p>\n<p>I think steam mops <em>in general<\/em> are fantastic!\u00c2\u00a0 I love that I can clean my floors without any toxic chemicals.\u00c2\u00a0 I also really like that the floor dries a little bit quicker since it doesn&#8217;t get as wet, and that there is no sticky residue left behind by a cleaning solution.\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s also great not to need to wring out a mop or deal with a bucket full of yucky, dirty water.\u00c2\u00a0 I like that I can just throw the steam mop pad in the washer and reuse it.<\/p>\n<p>Here are some great resources if you want more information on the benefits of steam mops:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/simpleorganic.net\/steam-cleaning-green-cleaning-at-its-best\/?utm_source=feedburner&amp;utm_medium=feed&amp;utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SimpleOrganic+%28Simple+Organic%29&amp;utm_content=Google+Reader\">Steam Cleaning- Green Cleaning At Its Best<\/a> @ Simple Organic<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.best-steam-reviews.com\/\">Steam Cleaner Reviews<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tinygreenmom.com\/2011\/03\/steam-mops-the-hot-new-thing-in-green-cleaning\/\">Steam Mops: The Hot New Thing In Green Cleaning<\/a> @ Tiny Green Mom<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bestgreenhometips.com\/2009\/06\/steam-mop-to-cut-water-and-chemical-use\/\">Steam Mop to Cut Water and Chemical Use<\/a> @ Best Green Home Tips<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrscleanusa.com\/en\/product-reviews\/steam-cleaners\/\">Steam Cleaner Reviews<\/a> @ Mrs. Clean USA<\/p>\n<p>The steam mop I&#8217;ve been using is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Euro-Pro-Shark-S3101-Electric-Steam\/dp\/B000V4Q8GA\/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1299697997&amp;sr=1-2\">Shark<\/a> (the basic one).\u00c2\u00a0 It works well for quick cleans, but for really DEEP cleans or tough spots, it&#8217;s not the greatest.\u00c2\u00a0 You have to pump the handle to get the steam to come out.\u00c2\u00a0 The cord is short, and the water doesn&#8217;t get all that hot (the hotter, the better!).\u00c2\u00a0 Like I said, it is okay, but not great.<\/p>\n<p>My plan was to write this post, get awesome suggestions from all of my wonderful blog readers, and THEN order a new steam mop. \u00c2\u00a0 But I got the trigger finger on Amazon yesterday, and order this <a href=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?lt1=_blank&amp;bc1=000000&amp;IS2=1&amp;bg1=FFFFFF&amp;fc1=000000&amp;lc1=0000FF&amp;t=thepicapp-20&amp;o=1&amp;p=8&amp;l=as4&amp;m=amazon&amp;f=ifr&amp;ref=ss_til&amp;asins=B001LYFBHG\">Eureka 313A Enviro Hard-Surface Floor Steamer<\/a> that I&#8217;ve been eyeing for a few weeks now:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rcm.amazon.com\/e\/cm?lt1=_blank&amp;bc1=000000&amp;IS2=1&amp;bg1=FFFFFF&amp;fc1=000000&amp;lc1=0000FF&amp;t=thepicapp-20&amp;o=1&amp;p=8&amp;l=as4&amp;m=amazon&amp;f=ifr&amp;ref=ss_til&amp;asins=B001LYFBHG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5834\" title=\"Eureka Steam Mop\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Eureka-Steam-Mop.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Eureka-Steam-Mop.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/Eureka-Steam-Mop-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>4 Stars from 1,067 reviews on Amazon.\u00c2\u00a0 Can&#8217;t be all bad, right?\u00c2\u00a0 It has the longest cord (25 ft) of all the steam mops on the market, heats to 220 degrees (very hot, enough to kill lots of bacteria and pick up more dirt than many other mops), has a large water tank (larger than other steam mops), and you don&#8217;t have to pump the handle or hold down a button to get it to steam.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m looking forward to trying it out, and I&#8217;ll be sure to let you know if it really lives up to all the hype.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>So, let&#8217;s discuss!\u00c2\u00a0 Do you use a steam mop?\u00c2\u00a0 Which one do you have?\u00c2\u00a0 What do you think of it?
