Happy Fall, Y’all!\u00c2\u00a0 It’s the first day of Autumn,\u00c2\u00a0 a “cool” front is rolling through Texas, and I couldn’t be happier.\u00c2\u00a0 It will still be in the lower 80s here, but I just couldn’t wait any longer to break out my fall decorations.\u00c2\u00a0 I actually got them out last weekend when the temperatures were still in the 90s.<\/p>\n

We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got many warm fall colors (reds, yellows, browns) in our downstairs d\u00c3\u00a9cor (oooh, doesn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t that make it sounds so sophisticated?!), so the pumpkins and leaves of fall fit right in, and just make our house feel so homey.\u00c2\u00a0 As much as I love all things Christmas, fall just fits our house so much better.<\/p>\n

My most prized fall possession is my front door wreath that I found in a little gift shop while ordering some party invitations.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve always wanted to be a wreath-on-the-front-door kind of person, but this was the first wreath that really spoke to me.\u00c2\u00a0 A wreath on the door just says \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Welcome to my house!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and is an easy way to jazz up a boring front door.\u00c2\u00a0 Our front door is definitely boring: a plain white builder basic door.\u00c2\u00a0 We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re the last folks on the block that haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t upgraded to a wooden door with glass.\u00c2\u00a0 I don’t think the feathers used to stick out all crazy like that, but that’s how they looked when I pulled out the wreath this year, and I kind of like it this way!<\/p>\n

Last year, one of the gourds on the wreath cracked in our not-really-fall Texas heat.\u00c2\u00a0 After some initial panic and sadness that my brand new wreath was already a casualty, I managed a successful transplant operation of a new gourd.<\/p>\n

I also acquired quite a few fake pumpkins last year.\u00c2\u00a0 We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got pumpkins for the front porch (saving those until October), pumpkins for the entry hall, pumpkins for the fireplace, and a pumpkin for the kitchen island.<\/p>\n

As you can see, I also love using fall leaves in my decorating.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve got several garlands that I use both on the fireplace mantle and the tops of my kitchen cabinets.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not a huge fan of fake florals and greenery, but I found some beautiful garlands with apples that I couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t pass up.<\/p>\n
