2nd birthday.\u00c2\u00a0 They&#8217;ve enjoyed playing with The Littlest Apple&#8217;s sensory bins, and I was looking for a birthday gift that was a little bit different from the norm.\u00c2\u00a0 I really hope the girls enjoy them (and that they don&#8217;t come across as 4 bins of junk!)\u00c2\u00a0 I had SO much fun shopping for this stuff&#8230;a little too much fun actually.\u00c2\u00a0 I had so much extra stuff that I&#8217;ll have plenty of materials to make a couple of new bins for The Littlest Apple as well!\u00c2\u00a0 All of the materials were purchased at Walmart, the $.99 Store, Dollar Tree, or Hobby Lobby.\u00c2\u00a0 If you&#8217;re looking for a unique gift idea for a preschooler, might I suggest a sensory bin?<\/p>\n<h4>Ice Cream Shop Sensory Bin<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ice-Cream-Sensory-Bin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3604\" title=\"Ice Cream Sensory Bin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ice-Cream-Sensory-Bin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ice-Cream-Sensory-Bin.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ice-Cream-Sensory-Bin-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I saw this idea on <a href=\"http:\/\/growingupourstyle.blogspot.com\/2010\/07\/ice-cream-shop-sensory-bin.html\">Growing Up Our Style<\/a> and thought it was the perfect summer bin!\u00c2\u00a0 This was the simplest of all the bins I put together.<\/p>\n<p>Materials Used:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>different sized multicolored pom poms<\/li>\n<li>white pom poms<\/li>\n<li>an ice cube tray<\/li>\n<li>ice cream scooper<\/li>\n<li>little ice cream bowls shaped like cones and spoons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Rock Garden Sensory Bin<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Rock-Garden-Sensory-Bin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3605\" title=\"Rock Garden Sensory Bin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Rock-Garden-Sensory-Bin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Rock-Garden-Sensory-Bin.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Rock-Garden-Sensory-Bin-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Rocks are always popular for transferring, scooping and sorting, and in this bin, the rocks stand in for dirt for a gardening theme.\u00c2\u00a0 (No <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/14\/gardening-sensory-bin\/\">worms and dirt<\/a> this time!)<\/p>\n<p>Materials Used:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Various sized rocks and pebbles<\/li>\n<li>Gardening tools<\/li>\n<li>Plastic frogs<\/li>\n<li>Silk flowers<\/li>\n<li>Pots for planting and scooping<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Ocean Sensory Bin<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ocean-Sensory-Bin.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3606\" title=\"Ocean Sensory Bin\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ocean-Sensory-Bin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ocean-Sensory-Bin.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/Ocean-Sensory-Bin-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This ocean themed sensory bin is another great one for summer!\u00c2\u00a0 No water necessary, just use turquoise aquarium rocks for the water.\u00c2\u00a0 I wish I had been able to find more fish.\u00c2\u00a0 If I had more time, I would have added a crab and a tiny treasure chest (though there are 2 gold coins hidden in the rocks!).<\/p>\n<p>Materials used:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Turquoise aquarium rocks<\/li>\n<li>Aquarium net<\/li>\n<li>Pink clam dish\/scooper<\/li>\n<li>Turtle (this and the starfish are toys that &#8220;grow&#8221;
