{"id":3245,"date":"2010-05-31T12:21:14","date_gmt":"2010-05-31T18:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=3245"},"modified":"2010-05-31T12:21:14","modified_gmt":"2010-05-31T18:21:14","slug":"5-minute-hummus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/31\/5-minute-hummus\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Minute Hummus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hummus is one of our favorite savory snacks.\u00c2\u00a0 Even The Littlest Apple will eat it on occasion.\u00c2\u00a0 (Amazing, right?!)\u00c2\u00a0 Hummus is great with pita chips, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/02\/03\/pita-bread\/\">homemade pita bread<\/a>, or veggies like cucumbers, red peppers, and carrots.<\/p>\n<p>Up until now, I&#8217;ve been relying on store bought hummus.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve tried several different recipes, but this is the first one that I&#8217;ve had any luck with.\u00c2\u00a0 In addition to the perfect recipe, I think that using a food processor or a really good blender is key to getting the hummus nice and creamy.\u00c2\u00a0 I have a cheap-o blender, but the food processor I got for Christmas works great for this!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3246\" title=\"Hummus\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Hummus.jpg\" alt=\"Hummus\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Hummus.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/Hummus-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>5 Minute Hummus<\/h4>\n<p>adapted from a recipe in Real Simple, May 2010<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 15-ounce can chickpeas, rinsed<\/li>\n<li>2 teaspoons minced garlic<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup olive oil, plus more for serving<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons tahini<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon ground cumin<\/li>\n<li>3\/4 teaspoon Kosher salt<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon paprika<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a food processor, puree the chickpeas and garlic with the olive oil, lemon juice, tahini, cumin, and 3\/4 teaspoon salt until smooth and creamy.\u00c2\u00a0 Add 1 to 2 tablespoons water as necessary to achieve the desired consistency.\u00c2\u00a0 Transfer to a bowl.\u00c2\u00a0 Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with the paprika before serving.<\/p>\n<div class=\"linkwithin_hook\" id=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/05\/31\/5-minute-hummus\/\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hummus is one of our favorite savory snacks.\u00c2\u00a0 Even The Littlest Apple will eat it on occasion.\u00c2\u00a0 (Amazing, right?!)\u00c2\u00a0 Hummus is great with pita chips, homemade pita bread, or veggies like cucumbers, red peppers, and carrots.
