{"id":2291,"date":"2010-02-25T21:18:55","date_gmt":"2010-02-26T03:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=2291"},"modified":"2010-02-25T21:18:55","modified_gmt":"2010-02-26T03:18:55","slug":"popsicle-painting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/02\/25\/popsicle-painting\/","title":{"rendered":"Popsicle Painting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This popsicle painting activity is something I want to share with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/30\/our-art-playgroup-begins\/\">Art Playgroup<\/a>, but I thought I should test it out with The Littlest Apple first.<\/p>\n<p>I made each paint popsicle with half water and half <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discountschoolsupply.com\/NewDSS\/Product\/ProductDetail.aspx?product=16821&amp;category=765&amp;CategorySearch=&amp;Brand=&amp;Price=\">liquid watercolors<\/a>, though next time I&#8217;ll use more water and less watercolors.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve also seen it done with tempera paint.\u00c2\u00a0 I froze the paint popsicles overnight, then got them out right before we sat down to paint.\u00c2\u00a0 I was a little concerned that The Littlest Apple would try to eat them since he loves popsicles, but he seemed to understand that these were for painting only.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2292\" title=\"Paint Popsicles 1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-1.jpg\" alt=\"Paint Popsicles 1\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-1.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-1-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2 seconds into the activity, The Littlest Apple touched the popsicle to see how cold the paint was, and got it all over his hand.\u00c2\u00a0 He wouldn&#8217;t proceed with the painting until his hand had been cleaned to his liking.\u00c2\u00a0 These beautiful <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discountschoolsupply.com\/NewDSS\/Product\/ProductDetail.aspx?product=16821&amp;category=765&amp;CategorySearch=&amp;Brand=&amp;Price=\">liquid watercolors<\/a> are washable, but the vibrant colors also translate to big mess!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2293\" title=\"Paint Popsicles 2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-2.jpg\" alt=\"Paint Popsicles 2\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-2.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-2-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once we had clean hands again, we enjoyed painting with the popsicles for about 5 minutes.\u00c2\u00a0 That doesn&#8217;t sound like much, but it was a decent length of time for The Littlest Apple.\u00c2\u00a0 I think it might have been more successful if I had let the popsicles thaw for another 10 minutes or so before trying to paint with them.\u00c2\u00a0 But then they might have been TOO drippy.\u00c2\u00a0 All in all, this was a neat activity, and definitely one I&#8217;ll try again!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2294\" title=\"Paint Popsicles 3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-3.jpg\" alt=\"Paint Popsicles 3\" width=\"557\" height=\"835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-3.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Paint-Popsicles-3-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"linkwithin_hook\" id=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2010\/02\/25\/popsicle-painting\/\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This popsicle painting activity is something I want to share with the Art Playgroup, but I thought I should test it out with The Littlest Apple first.
