{"id":194,"date":"2009-05-25T15:55:18","date_gmt":"2009-05-25T21:55:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=194"},"modified":"2009-10-08T06:27:59","modified_gmt":"2009-10-08T12:27:59","slug":"friendly-kitchen-oatmeal-cookie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/05\/25\/friendly-kitchen-oatmeal-cookie\/","title":{"rendered":"Friendly Kitchen Oatmeal Cookie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m always on the quest for a new cookie recipe that might be just a little better than my current favorite.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m fickle that way.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve never really been very happy with my standard oatmeal cookie recipe, and The Picky Apple has been asking that I try some new ones.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve always felt like oatmeal cookies were a little bit boring.\u00c2\u00a0 But I think that&#8217;s because I just hadn&#8217;t really found a GOOD oatmeal cookie recipe.\u00c2\u00a0 Turns out that oatmeal cookies have the potential to be really great&#8230;who knew?!<\/p>\n<p>I made this recipe for a crawfish boil over the weekend.\u00c2\u00a0 It made LOTS of cookies, but every last one got eaten at the party.\u00c2\u00a0 I got lots of compliments on this recipe, and all credit goes to Anna at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookiemadness.net\/\">Cookie Madness<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 She and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Martha-Stewarts-Cookies-Stewart-Magazine\/dp\/0307394549\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;s=books&amp;qid=1243288393&amp;sr=8-1\">Martha<\/a> are my go-to sources for all things cookie related!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friendly Kitchen Oatmeal Cookies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cookiemadness.net\/?p=3795&amp;cpage=1#comment-25981\">Cookie Madness<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>8 oz unsalted butter (230 grams)<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/4 cups  granulated sugar (240 grams)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup brown sugar (100 grams)<\/li>\n<li>2 large eggs<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoon milk, soy or regular milk (30 ml)<\/li>\n<li>2 tsp. vanilla extract<\/li>\n<li>1 3\/4 cups unbleached all purpose flour (220 grams)<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1 tsp. sea salt (if you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re using salted butter, skip this)<\/li>\n<li>3 cups rolled oats (300 grams)<\/li>\n<li>2 cups chocolate chips<\/li>\n<li>1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut (80 grams) \u00e2\u20ac\u201d optional<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preheat the oven to 375 F.<\/p>\n<p>Cream the butter and the sugars with an electric mixer until light. Beat in the egg, then the milk and the vanilla extract.<\/p>\n<p>Stir the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt together and gradually stir the flour mixture into the sugar mixture until it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s incorporated.
