{"id":1720,"date":"2009-12-31T21:17:03","date_gmt":"2010-01-01T03:17:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=1720"},"modified":"2009-12-31T21:17:03","modified_gmt":"2010-01-01T03:17:03","slug":"change-in-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/31\/change-in-2010\/","title":{"rendered":"CHANGE in 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since it&#8217;s New Year&#8217;s Eve, I figured I should do a looking back\/looking forward post.\u00c2\u00a0 2009 has not been a good year for me.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, it has been pretty rough, particularly the last half of it:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>miscarriage at 12 weeks (end of July) with resulting D&amp;C ( mid August)<\/li>\n<li>The Littlest Apple getting sick over and over and <em>over<\/em> again since starting Mother&#8217;s Day Out (September-December)<\/li>\n<li>a really awful <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/15\/the-ants-go-marching-two-by-two\/\">ant invasion<\/a> all over the house (October-December)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/09\/gastroparesis-always-feeling-like-you-just-ate-thanksgiving-dinner\/\">the threat of a feeding tube for The Littlest Apple<\/a> (November)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/06\/snow-day-turned-trip-to-the-er\/\">ruptured ectopic pregnancy with resulting 4 day hospital stay<\/a> (December).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At dinner tonight, I asked The Picky Apple to help me come up with a list of GOOD things about 2009, because surely, there was something good, <em>right<\/em>?!\u00c2\u00a0 Here&#8217;s what we came up with.\u00c2\u00a0 I was pleasantly surprised to look back at such a long list of things to be thankful for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In February, we traveled to Mexico to a destination wedding for some good friends of ours, where we served as Matron of Honor and Best Man in the ceremony, and enjoyed some fun time in the sun.\u00c2\u00a0 (There was also a bachelorette spa weekend for me in San Antonio and a bachelor weekend for The Picky Apple in Vegas).<\/li>\n<li>Probably one of the things I&#8217;m most proud of this year is the progress (and success) of my blog stemming from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/19\/welcome-to-the-new-picky-apple\/\">my decision to revamp my blog content<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>I started doing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/04\/tot-school-this-week\/\">Tot School activities with The Littlest Apple<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Okay, I fell off the wagon for December, but I&#8217;m planning to ramp back up in the new year!<\/li>\n<li>The Littlest Apple started Mother&#8217;s Day Out on Tuesdays and Thursdays.\u00c2\u00a0 Hello, much needed mommy time!<\/li>\n<li>I started an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/30\/our-art-playgroup-begins\/\">Art Playgroup<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;d love to see it grow this year.\u00c2\u00a0 It has been so much fun seeing the kids paint and play together and to visit with some of my mommy friends on a regular basis.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/10\/20\/bathroom-makeover-update-procrastinators-party\/\">bathroom makeover<\/a> is well on its way.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/17\/playroom-makeover-in-progress\/\">The playroom also got a makeover<\/a> (though it&#8217;s still not finished).<\/li>\n<li>We got to spend lots of time with my parents and my in-laws.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Maybe 2009 did have a few redeeming events, but I&#8217;m still more than ready to move on to 2010.\u00c2\u00a0 I know January 1 is just another day, but I&#8217;m looking forward to a fresh start and putting the past behind me.<\/p>\n<p>If I had to come up with one word to characterize 2010, my <a href=\"http:\/\/aliedwards.typepad.com\/_a_\/2009\/12\/my-one-little-word-story.html\">one little word<\/a> for the year, it would be <strong>CHANGE<\/strong>.\u00c2\u00a0 2010 is going to be a year of many big changes, whether I like it or not.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m looking forward to and excited about some of these changes, others will definitely require some adjustments.\u00c2\u00a0 As someone who typically doesn&#8217;t cope well with change and is slow to adjust, this is going to be a challenging year, but I am really going to push myself to be a little more &#8220;go with the flow&#8221;
