{"id":1711,"date":"2009-12-31T17:14:05","date_gmt":"2009-12-31T23:14:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=1711"},"modified":"2009-12-31T17:14:05","modified_gmt":"2009-12-31T23:14:05","slug":"green-beans-with-prosciutto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/31\/green-beans-with-prosciutto\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Beans with Prosciutto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I love cooking green beans with bacon, but this week, to go along with my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/31\/perfect-roast-turkey\/\">Perfect Roast Turkey<\/a> I tried something different.\u00c2\u00a0 I had prosciutto on hand, so I used that instead.\u00c2\u00a0 According to The Picky Apple, these were the best green beans I&#8217;ve ever made.\u00c2\u00a0 I happen to agree!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1713\" title=\"Green Beans with Prosciutto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Green-Beans-with-Prosciutto.jpg\" alt=\"Green Beans with Prosciutto\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Green-Beans-with-Prosciutto.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/Green-Beans-with-Prosciutto-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>Green Beans with Prosciutto<\/h4>\n<p>recipe by Cara<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 tablespoon butter<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup chopped onion<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup of chopped prosciutto<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon minced garlic<\/li>\n<li>1 pound haricot verts (French green beans)<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 package of sliced mushrooms (optional)<\/li>\n<li>1\/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup water (or chicken stock)<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons of pan drippings from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/31\/perfect-roast-turkey\/\">Perfect Roast Turkey<\/a> (optional, but I think this is what really made it extra flavorful&#8230;you can also use a little more chicken stock or pan drippings from any other meat you&#8217;re preparing)<\/li>\n<li>salt and pepper<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Melt butter in large skillet (that has a lid) on medium high heat.\u00c2\u00a0 Add onions and prosciutto, cook until onions are tender and prosciutto is crisp, stirring frequently.\u00c2\u00a0 Add garlic, and cook for 30 seconds.\u00c2\u00a0 Add haricot verts, mushrooms (if using) and red pepper.\u00c2\u00a0 Saute for 10 minutes, stirring frequently.\u00c2\u00a0 Add the pan drippings and water to the skillet, cover and reduce heat.\u00c2\u00a0 Cook for another 5-10 minutes, or until green beans are cooked to desired consistency.<\/p>\n<div class=\"linkwithin_hook\" id=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/12\/31\/green-beans-with-prosciutto\/\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I love cooking green beans with bacon, but this week, to go along with my Perfect Roast Turkey I tried something different.\u00c2\u00a0 I had prosciutto on hand, so I used that instead.\u00c2\u00a0 According to The Picky Apple, these were the best green beans I&#8217;ve ever made.\u00c2\u00a0 I happen to agree!
