{"id":145,"date":"2008-09-01T20:41:20","date_gmt":"2008-09-02T02:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=145"},"modified":"2009-10-08T06:32:49","modified_gmt":"2009-10-08T12:32:49","slug":"grilled-chicken-lettuce-wraps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2008\/09\/01\/grilled-chicken-lettuce-wraps\/","title":{"rendered":"Grilled Chicken Lettuce Wraps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve only recently started eating lettuce wraps, and my experience with them is limited to PF Chang&#8217;s, Pei Wei, and Chili&#8217;s.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure why I was so resistant to them previously&#8230;.maybe because I&#8217;m not that big of a lettuce fan?\u00c2\u00a0 Is <em>anyone <\/em>really that big of a lettuce fan?\u00c2\u00a0 Lettuce by itself is bo-ring, if you ask me.\u00c2\u00a0 I found this recipe for lettuce wraps in the July\/August issue of <em>Cooking with Paula Deen<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 I know what you&#8217;re thinking.\u00c2\u00a0 Paula Deen is not exactly the person who comes to mind when you want homemade lettuce wraps, but this recipe is surprisingly good!\u00c2\u00a0 Both The Picky Apple and I enjoyed them.\u00c2\u00a0 Next time I will add peanuts for additional crunch and flavor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/lettuce-wraps.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-146\" title=\"lettuce-wraps\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/lettuce-wraps.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/lettuce-wraps.jpg 455w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/lettuce-wraps-300x121.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Grilled Chicken Lettuce Wraps<\/h4>\n<p>from the July\/August 2008 issue of <em>Cooking with Paula Deen<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1\/4 cup minced fresh cilantro<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 cup vegetable oil<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp soy sauce<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp rice wine vinegar<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp firmly packed brown sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp plus 2 tsp minced fresh ginger, divided<\/li>\n<li>1 tbsp sesame oil<\/li>\n<li>3 cloves garlic<\/li>\n<li>1 1\/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup finely chopped water chestnuts<\/li>\n<li>2 tbsp minced green onions<\/li>\n<li>Lettuce Wrap Sauce (recipe follows)<\/li>\n<li>2 heads butter lettuce, separated into leaves<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In a large resealable plastic bag, combine cilantro, vegetable oil, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, 1 tbsp ginger, sesame oil, and garlic.\u00c2\u00a0 Add chicken; seal bag, and refrigerate for 2 hours.<\/p>\n<p>Preheat grill to medium-high heat (350 to 400 degrees F).\u00c2\u00a0 Spray grill with nonstick nonflammable cooking spray.<\/p>\n<p>Remove chicken from marinade, discarding marinade.\u00c2\u00a0 Grill chicken, covered with grill lid, for 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until chicken is no longer pink in center.\u00c2\u00a0 Cool chicken for 10 minutes;
