activities this week.\u00c2\u00a0 The Littlest Apple helped me mix our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/09\/23\/pumpkin-spice-granola\/\">Pumpkin Spice Granola<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1142\" title=\"Mixing Granola\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Mixing-Granola.jpg\" alt=\"Mixing Granola\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Mixing-Granola.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Mixing-Granola-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>He also vacuumed up a storm.\u00c2\u00a0 He LOVES his vacuum, and all vacuums, really.\u00c2\u00a0 We have to look at vacuums every time we go to Target.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1143\" title=\"Vacuuming\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Vacuuming.jpg\" alt=\"Vacuuming\" width=\"557\" height=\"835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Vacuuming.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Vacuuming-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Littlest Apple was not interested in arts and crafts this week, but we did manage to complete our Letter H project, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.notimeforflashcards.com\/2009\/07\/letter-of-the-week-h.html\">No Time For Flashcards<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 As you can see, my guy is a little heavy handed with the glue.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1151\" title=\"Letter H\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Letter-H-.jpg\" alt=\"Letter H\" width=\"557\" height=\"835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Letter-H-.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Letter-H--200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We talked about lots of things that start with the letter H: hands, hair, head, helicopters, hearts, hamburgers.\u00c2\u00a0 We made the letter H sound.\u00c2\u00a0 That was the extent of our Letter H activities for this week.\u00c2\u00a0 The Littlest Apple wasn&#8217;t interested in the rest of what I had planned!<\/p>\n<p>We tried the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/06\/sensory-tub-messes\/\">Harvest Sensory Tub<\/a> again, this time on the living room floor with a quilt underneath.\u00c2\u00a0 He loves this activity so much, and the quilt definitely help contain the mess&#8230;.<em>some<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 Until he started throwing the popcorn kernels over his shoulder with a ladle (not pictured).\u00c2\u00a0 As much as I would love for this to be an activity for The Littlest Apple to do while I get a quick task done nearby, I think I&#8217;m going to have to supervise very closely until he learns the &#8220;rules.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1144\" title=\"Harvest Sensory Tub on Quilt\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Harvest-Sensory-Tub-on-Quilt.jpg\" alt=\"Harvest Sensory Tub on Quilt\" width=\"557\" height=\"835\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Harvest-Sensory-Tub-on-Quilt.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Harvest-Sensory-Tub-on-Quilt-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I created this very rough looking name puzzle for The Littlest Apple.\u00c2\u00a0 His real name is Finley aka &#8220;Finn&#8221;&#8230;I&#8217;m not sure why I decided to call him The Littlest Apple instead of using his real name for the blog way back in January 2008, but it stuck.\u00c2\u00a0 I created this on the spur of the moment.\u00c2\u00a0 The bubble letters didn&#8217;t lend themselves to tracing and The Littlest Apple crumpled up the paper at one point.\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll make a nicer version of this at some point, perhaps laminated.\u00c2\u00a0 He caught on to this very quickly and impressed all the grandparents with this one!\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m planning on making some other simple &#8220;see and spell&#8221; activities, similar to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B0007Y4DLG?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=thepicapp-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=B0007Y4DLG\">this Melissa and Doug toy<\/a> (which we may buy him for Christmas).\u00c2\u00a0 He has mastered uppercase letter matching and some lower case.\u00c2\u00a0 The Littlest Apple is starting to understand that those letters form words, like his name and the word &#8220;mix&#8221; for cement mixer (that&#8217;s on one of his shirts).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1145\" title=\"Name Puzzle\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Name-Puzzle.jpg\" alt=\"Name Puzzle\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Name-Puzzle.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Name-Puzzle-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Littlest Apple loves any activity that involves water pouring and transferring.\u00c2\u00a0 I found a turkey baster this week at the store that I thought would be perfect for this.\u00c2\u00a0 The idea was to transfer from the bowl to the pitcher, and after a little coaching, The Littlest Apple figured out he had to squeeze the bulb on the turkey baster, then wait for it to &#8220;get big&#8221; again, meaning it was full of water.\u00c2\u00a0 Then he moved it the other bowl and squeezed to empty.\u00c2\u00a0 The table was probably a little too high for this activity, but he absolutely <em>refused<\/em> to let me move it to the floor.\u00c2\u00a0 He had so much fun with this, until he decided to pour the pitcher of water on the floor.\u00c2\u00a0 Between this and the popcorn kernel slinging, is he testing the rules or what?!\u00c2\u00a0 Sorry this photo is slightly blurry.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1146\" title=\"Turkey Baster Water Transfer\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Turkey-Baster-Water-Transfer.jpg\" alt=\"Turkey Baster Water Transfer\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Turkey-Baster-Water-Transfer.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Turkey-Baster-Water-Transfer-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This little pie puzzle from our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.funshineexpress.com\/?id=1\">Funshine Express<\/a> curriculum went over better than I thought, and The Littlest Apple came back to it several times.\u00c2\u00a0 There was a 2 piece pie and a 4 piece pie to fit together.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1148\" title=\"Pie Chart\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Pie-Chart.jpg\" alt=\"Pie Chart\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Pie-Chart.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Pie-Chart-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The most successful activity of the week was sorting coins and putting them in his duck bank.\u00c2\u00a0 We sorted the coins together, naming them as we went (though he only remembers &#8220;dime&#8221;), then The Littlest Apple dropped them into the bank one by one.\u00c2\u00a0 We did this in batches because The Littlest Apple was very eager to get to the dropping-coins-in-the-bank part.\u00c2\u00a0 Once he was finished, we poured them all out and started again.\u00c2\u00a0 Dropping the coins in the bank took a long time given the number of coins, but The Littlest Apple loved it (and I was most grateful to be able to take a break and sit on the couch nearby reading a book!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1149\" title=\"Coin Sorting\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Coin-Sorting.jpg\" alt=\"Coin Sorting\" width=\"557\" height=\"371\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Coin-Sorting.jpg 557w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/Coin-Sorting-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 557px) 100vw, 557px\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"linkwithin_hook\" id=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2009\/11\/15\/tot-school-november-15\/\"><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Littlest Apple is 26 months old.
