{"id":102,"date":"2008-04-07T13:28:46","date_gmt":"2008-04-07T19:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/?p=102"},"modified":"2008-04-08T16:56:31","modified_gmt":"2008-04-08T22:56:31","slug":"buffalo-chicken-nuggets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/07\/buffalo-chicken-nuggets\/","title":{"rendered":"Buffalo Chicken Nuggets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This recipe for Buffalo Chicken Nuggets was a favorite at our house growing up, and it is still one of my favorites today.\u00c2\u00a0 My mom clipped the original recipe from Parents Magazine back in 1988, so it is officially 20 years old this year.\u00c2\u00a0 I love everything about wings except, well, the wings themselves.\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t like eating the meat off the bone, and I prefer chicken breast to wings.\u00c2\u00a0 This recipe uses boneless skinless chicken breast cut in to chunks.\u00c2\u00a0 The chicken is marinated in your hot sauce of choice, then breaded.<\/p>\n<p>My favorite hot sauce is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tabasco.com\/main.cfm\">Tabasco Sauce<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Having lived in Lafayette, Louisiana until 7th grade, we grew up with Tabasco sauce.\u00c2\u00a0 In fact, Avery Island, the home of Tabasco Sauce, was not that far from Lafayette, and we visited quite a few times.\u00c2\u00a0 There is much more to Avery Island than just the Tabasco Pepper Sauce Factory.\u00c2\u00a0 There are also beautiful gardens and huge old oak trees with enormous branches trailing back down to the ground, covered with moss.\u00c2\u00a0 One particular visit to Avery Island stands out in my memory.\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t remember the specifics of the visit&#8230;perhaps my Dad&#8217;s company picnic?\u00c2\u00a0 On this particular visit, around the time my mom started making this recipe for Buffalo Chicken, I was playing in the big old oak trees with the other kids.\u00c2\u00a0 I was hanging down from a large tree branch, waiting for my mom to turn around to see me goofing off.\u00c2\u00a0 Of course, as soon as she turned, I lost my grip and fell and broke my wrist.\u00c2\u00a0 Instead of taking me to the emergency room at the tiny hospital in the little town closest to Avery Island, my parents fashioned a splint for me out of some gauze and an old license plate from the trunk of the car, and drove me all the way back to Lafayette, over an hour away, over bumpy backwoods Louisiana roads.\u00c2\u00a0 Now whenever I think of Tabasco Sauce, which remains my favorite hot sauce, I think of Avery Island and this story.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/buffalo-chicken-nuggets.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-103\" title=\"buffalo-chicken-nuggets\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/buffalo-chicken-nuggets.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"455\" height=\"164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/buffalo-chicken-nuggets.jpg 455w, https:\/\/www.thepickyapple.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/04\/buffalo-chicken-nuggets-300x108.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 455px) 100vw, 455px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Buffalo Chicken Nuggets<\/h4>\n<p>adapted from Parents Magazine, 1988<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1&#8243;
